Ireland accepts selfies for online applications, which most authorities do not. Uniforms - civil or military - and clothing bearing insignia are banned outright. Paper applications need four identical prints.

Where the published rules run out

Ireland publishes no chin-to-crown measurement at all - only that the photo runs from the head to mid-torso with visible space around the head. The 29-34 mm the tool crops to is the neighbouring UK rule, used here as a sensible default. Ireland also accepts any print between 35 x 45 mm and 38 x 50 mm.

Passport Photo: Photo Maker ID does this on iOS with the phone's own camera and an on-device background tool. It is free to download and the first export is free; after that it asks for Pro. This website has no limit.
