The borderless trap
Six 2 × 2 inch photos cover a 4 × 6 sheet exactly — 24 square inches into 24 square inches, with nothing to spare. Photo-lab prints are borderless, which means the printer deliberately overfills the paper and trims the overhang. On an exact-fit sheet that trim comes out of your photos, and a trimmed 2 × 2 is no longer 2 × 2.
Two ways round it: choose the full-photo or "cropless" option when you order the print, or tick Leave a safety margin above, which gives up some copies for a real border. Guides that tell you to print six and stop there are skipping the part that goes wrong.
